Shoe Vault is designed with your privacy in mind. All shoe and run data you enter — including shoe photos, mileage, and run history — is stored exclusively on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.
The following data is stored locally using your device's storage and never leaves your device unless a feature below sends it elsewhere:
When you photograph or select an image of a shoe, Shoe Vault processes it entirely on your device to remove the background (using Apple's on-device Vision framework, iOS 17+). The photo is never uploaded anywhere — it's saved locally and used only to display that shoe in your collection.
If you turn on Apple Health Sync in Settings, Shoe Vault reads your running workout distances from the Health app so you can attribute them to a shoe. This is read-only — Shoe Vault never writes to Health — and the data stays on your device. You can revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, or by turning the toggle off in the app.
If you subscribe, payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Subscription status is verified through RevenueCat, which may process your App Store receipt to confirm your entitlement.
Shoe Vault uses Sentry to capture crash and error diagnostics so we can fix bugs. These reports include technical details (device type, OS version, stack traces) but are configured not to include personal information.
